Here are some links, apps and resources that I like and use on a regular basis. I hope you like them too!

My stack (how I run this website)

Jekyll - This is the static site generator (SSG) that I use to generate the content for this web site. I write my articles as text files in a Git repository, and use Jekyll to build all the HTML pages you see here.
GoAccess - This is an analysis tool for getting stats from web server logs. I use this to gather stats for my websites. It’s very easy to install on CentOS.
Uptime Robot - This is a great, super-simple, SaaS tool with a free tier for monitoring up to 50 websites. It alerts me by email when any of my websites are down. This is incredibly useful when you’re just a solo webmaster, and you don’t need to set up a fancy monitoring solution!
MVP CSS - My blog theme is my own customisation of this very simple CSS stylesheet. MVP sets some nice, basic styling to all standard HTML elements, so you don’t have to worry about remembering complicated classes and structures. Excellent for those of us who weren’t blessed with design skills and it means that I can keep all these pages very lightweight and fast.

1Writer (iOS app) - This is such an awesome note-taking app, and I would be absolutely lost without it. Read and write plaintext files to your Dropbox, with smooth syncing functionality, Markdown support, dark mode and lots more.
StackEdit (Web app) - The ultimate web-based note-taking app! Free and open source, runs entirely in the browser and connects to your Dropbox account for syncing. Absolutely awesome.

Foursquare (app) - it’s not as trendy as it used to be, but it’s still awesome for finding local food & drink places. It’s very useful when I’m travelling somewhere new.
LuckyTrip (iOS app) - This is instant holiday inspiration for a weekend break somewhere, with flights, accommodation and things to do, all matching your chosen budget.
